One of the things that I have always believed in is that you help your neighbor. These people that live in close proximity to us can be the first ones to offer help when there is a problem, so I have always tried to cultivate good relationships with them. Though challenging at times, the time that I have spent making friends has paid off over time.
One example of helping someone out would be what I did today. My neighbor, Jeff, came over and asked if I could help with some kind of water extraction from his carpet.
I had no idea what he meant.
When I went over to his apartment, he cautioned me to leave my shoes on as his floor was wet. At first I thought that he might have spilled something, but after taking a look at the place, I learned that it was a lot worse:
His waterbed broke.
There was water everywhere and he was concerned that the water would leak into the unit below him. I took his ShopVac and started sucking up the water and emptying the vacuum. Little by little we were able to get the water off of the floor and down the drain. We are just taking a break now, but I think that we will be up just about all night.
What a way to spend a Friday night!
